Women in the gaming industry: Aristocrat efforts into making a change.

On the 8th March, Aristocrat employees all around the world celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD), a global event to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women. This year’s theme ‘Choose to Challenge’ asked us to step up and call out biases, stereotypes, and inequality so that we can work together to accelerate progress to help create a gender-equal world.

Here at Aristocrat, we’re committed to driving change, and each year for International Women’s Day we reflect on our company’s progress and what more we can do to accelerate the participation of females in our business and also the industry.  In fact, increasing the representation of women in all levels of management remains one of our strategic priorities, because we know that building richly diverse teams is a key enabler of our growth – it helps us unlock our full potential.

This year to celebrate IWD, we welcomed special guest speaker Nyadol Nyuon, an award-winning human rights advocate and writer who shared her inspirational story.  We then followed that with a Choose to Challenge Workshop, bringing Aristocrat team members together to share insights, learnings and develop key actions to drive positive change.

To help celebrate IWD 2021, women from right around our business collaborated to create an inspiring video message on the ‘Choose to Challenge’ theme.  We hope you enjoy our message and our commitment to #ChoosetoChallenge

Finally, we are also very proud founding partners with The Star Casino of the not-for-profit ‘Women in Gaming & Hospitality Australasia’ (WGH) organisation which strives to promote positive outcomes for women in gaming and hospitality. It is the only body in Australasia dedicated to developing, connecting and empowering women working in the gaming and hospitality industries, delivering education, mentorship and networking opportunities.
